The hotel is housed in an impressive building built in 1870 for the aristocratic Venetian Mocenigo family, who produced several of the Doges of the Republic of Venice. In fact, the neo-gothic style of the exterior, with its pointed arches and double lancet windows, is reminiscent of the buildings along the Grand Canal.
